Trump immigration executive order: President wants to terminate birthright citizenship
Birthright citizenship refers to the citizenship that is automatically granted to everyone born within the United States, this right is protected by the 14th amendment in the constitution.
As alarming as this may sound, Trump’s claim is not as concerning as it seems. Repealing a constitutional amendment is possible, but difficult. I mean, if 280+ school shootings still has not made congress repeal the 2nd amendment, I don’t know what will. It is still unknown if any real action has been taken to repeal the amendment.
There are about 4 million U.S.-born children from undocumented parents. Repealing citizenship to 4 million illegal immigrant-born citizens is not only unrealistic, but unconstitutional. The idea will most likely concern future generations, like many other of Trump's outrageous ideas, this one will most likely not go through.
